A voice was
missing
Women Middle East is an online platform amplifying Arab women's voices and cultural impact. It began as a magazine built on a simple observation — that in a crowded market of women's titles, a voice was still missing — and it has stayed close to that brief since.
The work is conversation. An actor on how Arab film writes women. A psychiatrist on what the region will not say out loud about mental health. A designer on building a house in her own name. The camera stays on, the edit stays light, and the interview runs as long as the answer needs.
Across the archive the subjects have ranged from spirituality and alternative medicine to fashion, surrogacy and postnatal depression, femininity and the business of being taken seriously. The magazine does not arrive with a position. As Sandra Abdalla has put it: “We are not here to revolutionise but to present matters and let people decide for themselves.”
What follows from that is the house style — no voiceover telling you what to think, no headline written before the interview, and a title page that carries the subject's name and nothing else.
